i wonder if it's common practice for other blogs to randomly change their blog names once in a short while. because i did it first and then connie did it and we both do it now to a ridiculous degree. so i'll just go rename my blog now again.

she hasn't blogged in a longish. longish longish longish. that sounds funny. anyway, i could have sworn that mrs. bryer said she tried to call you, richard. but maybe i was hallucinating.. i do that a lot these days. i need to figure out a way to manage my time and not procrastinate. i think i'll do it later. :)
tomorrow is friday! finally. i was under the impression for about a forty minutes that it was friday today. i was very disappointed when i found out that it was thursday. but tomorrow is friday. i can't wait. even though this weekend is going to be a little bit stinky. but not as stinky as our school has been getting. someone really needs to bring in mass quantities of glade melon burst to spray all around school. then maybe the staircases wouldn't smell like vinegar and the hallways wouldn't smell like very very very strong babypowder-perfumey stuff. grooooosssss. :P
so our conductor candidate today was santa claus, and his motions were really quite strange. i don't think he's very good at his job. i won't be able to endure a year of those thirty minutes today if they choose him to be our new conductor. wow, somehow i found him really annoying. school is killing me softly. just how many white people do we have on this blog? i think caitlin's half an egg .. she hasn't blogged in a longish, so we can make fun of her all we want. i can't think of anything right now. wah!
hmm...i was standing outside jess's house today b/c our orchestra carpool was waiting for her dad. so i was going to knock on the window to your study like a delinquent but jon said that you were upstairs, and it would have been a mean and odious act. i got to take a ride in the subaru forester! i'd never been in a subaru before. it was a new experience.
wah we're getting a new conductor in orchestra...its so sad...i think i'm going to miss gabriel gordon. fudge...mrs. bryer didn't call me.
LOL... jess thats too funny that your dad said you had to pull some white votes. HAHAHAHA. OK. I'm sure you have my parents votes. Is he gonna have a fundraising party? huh? Mrs. Bryer called me and my group once for our history project. She told me she was going to call so that I could tell my mom. So I told my mom she would call and the whole night my mom picked up the phone really politely. It was amusing. Then after my mom talked to Mrs. Bryer, she was in a good mood for the rest of hte night. I love Mrs. Bryer!
you guys are so lucky, i don't think my english teacher likes me. she likes boys. and i've never gotten a good comment on a paper. if i get a good grade, then it's just pages of blank nothing- no bad comments. school- it's killing me slowly.
haha mrs. bryer called me yesterday too... but i was at therapy so i was spared the embarrassment :) she left a message though... so in history today, after steph gave mrs. bryer her mom's work number, i decided to too. except i couldn't remember what her number was exactly.. see, she's long distance so i usually don't call her. and even when i do, i just seem to know where the numbers on the phone key pad are... you know, like when you can just pick up a phone and call someone, but if someone asks you for the number, you can't just say it? right... so anyways, on the back of one of my old tests, i drew a little phone number pad thing. and i was sitting there punching these lil numbers... and steph thought that was kind of amusing i guess :) so ANYWAY... the real purpose of my blog: just for all the holmdel people~ my dad is running for the board of ed. because the previous chinese dude who was on the board is retiring because he's served for 7 years... and he asked my dad to run so... my dad thought about it for awhile and he decided to go for it. sooo he told me i need to help him campaign. and he actually specifically told me that i have to pull some white votes for him. so here i am, campaigning for my dad on derek's peanut butter blog. soooo... tell your parents to vote for ray m. tai!!! please. especially if you are white... though any banana and twinkie votes are welcome as well :) and coconut of course, except they aren't in this blog.. right. i keep seeming to lapse into history terms, oddly. so, go tell your parents to vote for my dad. VOTE FOR RAY M. TAI!!!

mrs. bryer got your number from me. mwahaha. she called to tell my parents.. the same thing and.. i don't know how to take compliments well. i just kept saying thank you thank you blah blah blah and laughing at her jokes. she thought that lynching comment was really really funny. and apparently she finds our little corner of the room hilarious. we are some crazy kids. :)
wah, it's late. i haven't done any chem homework. argh. i've been inundated recently with college ad thingies. i don't think i'll ever find the time to really look into them. bah. ehhh.. perhaps i should sleep. this staying up thing is so bad for me.
blogger pro is the not-free version of blogger where you get all these extra services and things .. they have a site where you can find out exactly what it is. today was a strange day. so in history, i made this inappropriate comment about lynching someone and bryer laughed really really really long and hard and her face was really red. and then later at home around six or seven, she calls and asks to speak to my parents, and i thought it was about me saying inappropriate things in class, but apparently she wanted to tell them how um, how good i was and how much she liked having me in class and et cetera, but my parents weren't available so she told me. and it was really embarrassing and way too flattering. okay, now i should go play piano. i'm okay, don't you worry about me, i always cry when confronted with reality.
i somehow got my foot stuck under my desk at the end of english today when i was trying to leave and i sort of half-fell. that was pretty dumb. i think only a few people noticed though. that's a good thing.
i like being a guy. we don't share anything. except food, like fire chicken. food is good. i'm hungry.
what's blogger pro? there's a little box with an ad for it on the side.
i'm in my friend's room (i'm going to room with her next year actually) and she looked over and was like, "ooh! i LOVE peanut butter! do you guys talk about that?" and i was just like ... if you want to ... i don't particularly like peanut butter, but sometimes it's pretty good. i just did my nails with her nail polish ... now they're a nice pale pink. i like being a girl, being able to share things like nail polish and clothes and stuff like that ... archibald...you're all wet. though you were actually on fire. did your jacket look spiffy after it got burned?
cultural literacy is sweet. it's some whacked out stuff. if you disagree...bite me. cd burner, dvd, mp3, gridlock, rubber-necking, stock portfolio, screenname, and AOL keyword are all legitimate cultural literacy terms right? hmm...whenever i say "tomorrow" i think of the song "tomorrow" that little orphan annie sings in the musical. i can't believe that in the past 5 years since i've heard it i haven't forgotten it. maybe it was the girl's high-pitched ear shattering voice. its only a day away. and whenever someone says "thank goodness" i think of TGIF, which is a restaurant i have never been to. i remember once we went this red oak diner somewhere around here (middletown?) and they gave us something like a 4 course meal. it was cheaper than friendlys and the food was pretty darn good.
wow, everybody's saying happy birthday so i guess i should too~~ happy birthday!! =) i'm taping smallville, kristen kreuk is hott. ^.^'' i agree, school would be a lot better if we didnt have to actually learn anything, we should start a school like that. chopin's black key etude is really starting to annoy me, i dont even know if i'm going to use it for anything besides getting a major finger workout. geez. i dont know what i want to do or what i need to do right now, i'm very lost. actually i know what i need to do, i have a project due on monday, but knowing me i can wait until the weekend to do that, i'm not in the mood to go analyze lord of the flies right now. its a very graphic book, i heard the movie was pretty gross too, and we're watching the movie in class after we finish reading it...lovely.
hm, i almost torched my arm with a bunsen burner today. so after school in honors advanced research, we were doing our little worm lab experiment screens thingy and we had to transfer worms from a feeder plate to these other test plates, and there was a burner to sterilize the picks that we use to get worms from one plate to another. and i stuck my arm in it by accident while i was leaning over to unplug a stereoscope. anyway, janet said that my arm was in the flame, and i had a wool jacket on and it was good that i didn't burst into flames. i am a flaming idiot.
tired. thank goodness spring break's coming up in a couple of weeks. a couple of weeks, that sounds so nice school would be really fun if there wasn't any school involved, don't you think?
whenever i say "i'm seventeen" i *always* think of it in the way drew barrymore did in never been kissed, and thought nobody else did because i was weird! yay! Monday, February 25, 2002
i'm seventeen! (imagine me saying that like drew barrymore did in never been kissed) i can see R rated movies! i can drive! oh, what privileges. :)
wordmistress sounds very very odd.. but thank you anyway. :) i was almost disappointed that i didn't have the manwoman as my driving inspector. i saw her get into the car before me.. and it is true, you really can't tell if she's a woman or a man. kind of scary. *shudders* i had a nice guy.. but not the one that sings happy birthday to you at the end. it's all good though. i got my license. after about two hours of waiting at the dmv. there was this lady there that kept getting into near-fistfights with the customer service people.. and there were these little kids running around all over the place. they were so cute. there was one named cyrus who was running around looking confused and happy all at once while eating a pretzel. and then a few minutes later, he found a friend and they started chasing each other around. neither of them could talk yet, so they just kept going "na na na na na na" at each other. then cyrus had to sit down because his mom said so .. then cyrus' friend started playing with this big kid and they were chasing this little girl around the dmv. she looked like she was doing laps .. she would walk across the room, touch the counter and walk back and start all over again. it was all very cute. little kids are cool. argish. i should do my english sentence outline thingy now.
i remember when i used to play "mortal kombat" at my friend's house and we would kill each other a lot and there was this one guy liu kang who had these moves like the fireballs and the flying kick and then in the second or third game it got cool when they also gave him a bicycle kick. i think you hold down and low kick for about five seconds and let go. anyway, he would make funny sounds like "hwaaaa" in this high-pitched voice. i should be writing my history paper now.
richard, tape "iron chef" for me and give me the "alias" tape sometime. or ellen. ellie, i'm not always that pessimistic and cynical and sarcastic about every single little thing and i'm offended. yale was freezing though, but you were right, no more than new jersey was when we got back. i missed a lot of english today. yay for wordmistress stephanie!
andie is my hero. ahh he made reckage's day today when he saved a goal with a bicycle kick and then landed on his side on the hardwood gym floor. ouch. it was a really loud landing. i hope he didn't injure himself and knock himself out of track, though he seemed alright.
we had a blast practicing our time-wasting skills today in history. we wasted about 35 minutes, right? yea we've got skill. actually, i think mrs. bryer let us waste the period, but it's all good. steph became a wordmaster on her birthday. that's pretty nifty. happy birthday steph!
i'm sick. it's a pretty strange sickness, it's got the whole really-hot-have-a-fever then switch to really-cold-want-a-blanket feel about it. hm i guess that's not a good thing.
i didn't particularly like or dislike any college i went to ... but derek i'd guess that if you went to visit any college you'd find a reason to intensely dislike it. Sunday, February 24, 2002
is anyone going to blog today?
i watched some of iron chef, and they showed the chefs killing the fish, and all the blood and guts and the fish still squirming around while the chefs tried to chop them up. its still not as bad as the glutton bowl. anyway, the iron chef beat the challenger by one point. yes, it was intense. i want to see bon jovi. Saturday, February 23, 2002
hmm did any of you ever visit west point? it seems interesting, but i don't think i'd be up for doing pushups and running in place at 4:00 in the morning. i got this thing from them asking me to attend their summer workshop. maybe i'll join the navy instead to fight for liberty and equality. or maybe i'll listen to joe bonham and stay home and write papers.
sss, i'm a ssnake. what makes a campus good or bad, or what makes you love or hate a school? i know nothing about college, i know nothing about where i want to go or what i want to do .. i think maybe i'm hoping that i'll find out for sure when i'm there. so i think i would want to go to a well-rounded school where i can discover what i truly want. err. anyway, so i'm going to -- or i really really want to, hopefully i will -- visit schools sometime soon. except i don't know how.
i would recommend visiting collegess, it's quite useful. last year i was so sure i wanted to go to nyu, but when i visited, i absolutely hated it. really really really hated it. so i saved myself a lot of money and time and energy by not applying to nyu, and that's because of a college visit! .....[derek- did you insert some kind of hidden link to yahoo ski and sports page? this is the second time i've been redirected there while blogging, and i didn't do anything. weird]..... on the flip side, a college visit can make you really like a school you weren't sure of before. like, i didn't know if i would like upenn, but i visited and it's such an awesome campus! so that's my advice- visit schools you might be interested in. it definitely helps.
i saw the movie "o" yesterday. it wasn't exactly filmmaking at its finest, but josh hartnett's in it, so hey. and after fellowship allison showed everyone her car- it is so sick. very awesome. and the dad from "home alone" is in "o".
lum lum. so i have to start writing that paper too, except i tried to start it yesterday when i didn't have any work to do and i couldn't get myself to begin writing anything. so i have no willpower. ehh. time to go to sleep. but i can't. oh no, what do i do.

dangit! i just realized that the 2 A rule doesn't apply to me b/c my second A was the wilson paper. shoot. time to get started...i have no life and neither does joe bonham.
oh no, look at you now. you've got stuck in a moment, and now you can't get out of it.
hmm today has been bittersweet, like a bittersweet symphony. i fudged the chem test, but i stepped it up 5 notches in history on my wilson paper, so now i don't have to write a johnny got his gun paper! though it was a pretty darn good book. maybe now i'll have somewhat of a life this weekend, or something resembling one...if i don't spend the whole time working on my sentence outline and getting addicted to olympic hockey. go USA! ahh why do people keep calling and hanging up right after i pick up the phone? it's quite annoying. maybe i'm intimidating them with my powerful, "HELLO?!" yes that must be it.... i need to register for SAT II's, and i'm in a dilemma about ap english and honors english.
eh, i want to visit colleges too during spring break. i was thinking about boston and that whole new england area, but then i was also thinking about maybe other schools down the east coast -- mm. ellen, tell me how the whole visiting thing works. michelle kwan had way too much pressure on herself. this is what gothelf asked me a bit sarcastically yesterday, but not in a nasty way: "so derek, you think you'll be able to stay awake to take this quiz?" embarrassing, it was.
hey ellen, she's only sixteen, you're seventeen! my dad figured out exactly how they got ranked. ahh, i was watching skating all night too, and i just took my shower, i have to write two quasi-half-essay-paragraph type things for 2 diff classes and study! ahhhh! i'm getting married!! read my blog=)
dave is a cool guy. i'm sorry..! ;)
michelle kwan rocks -- it would have been so great if she won the gold...i think she deserves it so much. after all, this is the skater who i wrote a book about in eighth grade! ahh i love michelle kwan. she really is so awe inspiring. but hey, sarah hughes was definitely incredible tonight. and she's my age! it makes me feel 1. unaccomplished and 2. inspired to...accomplish something. hehe. i wonder if neal will invite michelle to his wedding (um..when he gets married). then i'll give her the book i made in 8th grade. =D anyway, for spring break i'm ... going to boston! i think i mentioned this already. however, i'm not quite sure where to stay yet, or if my friend will join me. either way, it'll be a great experience. boston college, boston u, or wellesley? it would be cool if i could stay in harvard. except, i don't know anyone there (save for..brian? sketchy), and it would be useless since i know i'm not going to apply there. ok, so nevermind. my brother says that mit has weird people there. or, that's what he says. hm. i want to go to mardi gras once in my life. "ke ai nu ren" is an interesting song. not quite r&b, more like stereotypical chinese pop, but a bit less cheesy. its ok. all chinese, male, pop vocalists sound the same. i'm not really into chinese music, no matter how much derek tries to get me to download the stuff. in psyc class today, we were given a portion of an IQ test used to measure candidates for MENSA. according to the test, i am elegible for candidacy. ok, something must be really really really really really wrong with the test. either that or i have some untapped area of intelligence that i haven't discovered yet. HAHA ok. i spent all night watching figure skating...i haven't started my homework! uh oh! goodnight kids Thursday, February 21, 2002
i've been falling asleep in my classes these couple of days. My hand hurts from sleeping on it, especially from today. I think i'll bring in a pillow starting tomorrow. I started that at the end of last year....i guess it's time to bring it back.
i don't get subconscious messages when i take notes in my sleep! i just get this meaningless, undecipherable scribble! You can easily tell when i started to fall asleep: words gradually become elongated and i begin to fail to articulate my individual letters. it's very uh...interesting to look at and study from. Oh, and my spring break! I think i'm going to....school! Well...maybe not. If i find something to do, i'm going to use my absences to the fullest extent i can--i think i have 14 days left to use. That's a nice 2 and a half school week break i can use at my whim. I should probably do work...monday night was the only time i did work for the last 2 and a half weeks. Senioritis is running rampant through my body.
eh, i've been listening to this jay chow song called "ke ai nu ren" .. it's completely stuck in my head. i don't know why, i really like it. it's soft, it's r&bish when i've never really been into r&b, it's kind of repetitive with only one verse and one chorus, i like the rhythm and how the words fit into the melody or lack of a real one -- i don't know. go download it here and unzip the file with the password "www.20cm.com" .. and then listen to it and tell me what you think. maybe i'll even be over it by then. i stuck the lyrics into altavista to translate and got something really amusing, and then i tried translating it by myself -- it loses something. chinese grammar is a bit strange.
i'm never going to get a car. but i'm going to sign up for driving lessons this weekend, yes.
hmm, i have an '87 oldsmobile with blue balloon residue melted into the upholstery in the back of my olive green car. it's almost as old as i am (the car, not the blue rubber) but i am very lucky to have something drive. i like my car a lot. it's quite reliable. i have never been on any college tour. my parents say it's dumb. but i might go visit illinois sometime just to see where i might be living, if i decide to go there at all. it's so far=( it's so much money! ahhh, how am i gonna pay for it?? i'll apply for who wants to be a millionaire!!!! yeah, who wants to come with me! :)
i've been sleeping a lot in my history class. it's so unbearably boring and i just want to shoot myself everytime i think of myself sitting there. i've subconsciously taken notes before. or was it...taking notes while in the process of falling asleep. but i went back to read them a couple days later an dit was really amusing. you can kinda see them trailing off. my notes started out ok, and in mid-sentence they go really small and letters just became squiggly lines and i went off the lines on the notebook paper. haha, it was really funny. ok, well figure skating's on, must be off!
i've got to get myself together. i'm stuck in a moment, and now i can't get out of it...ok i think i'm out of it now.
ahh i want a car! and a license...the wait is becoming painful. and i wouldn't be able to borrow my parents' cars so i'd need my own. maybe a nice shiny '94 camry will do, if i can find one. or a lamborghini murcielago. haha right. i wish i had allison's car. it's so cool. yea, it's my dream car. i'd steal it, but it'd be mean, illegal, and i wouldn't know how to do it. i think i'm visiting colleges over spring break too. and maybe spending a night in new york city. it should be a blast. i used to fall asleep in latin class every day last year. i knew i was actually asleep b/c i'd wake up and the class would be a couple lines past where i left off. and i sat at the front of my row, too.
mrs. gothelf is allergic to peanuts. yeah.. i don't think she would like peanut butter too much. hmm..
did you know that bulletproof vests, fire escapes, windshield wipers, and laserprinters were all invented by women? yeah, we are so cool. i got that from this email janlee sent me. there are a lot of other cool facts on there.. i dunno if they're all right though. but, yeah, girls rule. boys drool. only sometimes though. hehe :) aah, i wanted to go to europe with touma over spring break. *sigh* i think i already vented about this. france and spain. the french RIVIERA. man, that would have been awesome. instead, i believe that i am going to tour colleges. sweetness. i don't think i've ever taken notes subconciously before. or.. taken them while half-conscious. that's so weird! i just fall asleep. hahahaha.. i hate it when you just can't keep your eyelids from closing. it's like some sort of strange power is dragging them down and you can't do anything about it. but anyway. i usually don't fall asleep in class (yes, i am the biggest dork you'll ever meet) but i did come close in math and latin last year. math because.. yeah, she was boring (but nice) and latin because i had it right after lunch and she had a tendency to turn the lights off and use that cursed projector. the projector is like a death sentence. well, maybe not.. hehe :) but, yes. teachers shouldn't use them. :o) ah, it was so nice out today. i actually exercised. it was fun :) and allison's car is really really really very nice. aaaahhh.. i think i'm in love with it. wah, i want a car. or, no. i just want to be able to drive SOMETHING when i get my license. in four days. AAAAAHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!
guess where i'm probably going for spring break! minnesota! yay! cuz my dad is moving there. so we're probably visiting there in spring break. and you know who lives in minnesota! -josh hartnett!! hooray! who needs cancun or aruba or canada when you gots minnesota! and perhaps i can find the places where they filmed scenes of the mighty ducks, especially D2. i wonder if they really only filmed on an L.A. soundstage, and just made it look minnesota. hm, that would be sad. and i can go fishing!
i wasnt aware of any mandate "don't say specific things to specific people' oops... ill try and abide by that now. So as long as we're on the topic of falling asleep in class, today i had lab... and my lab days are more horrible than normal lab days because i have chem lab and physics lab on the same day...chem lab wasnt bad cuz we had a test and a fire drill... the fire drill only served to reinforce the fact that we are all NERDS...*sigh*. My mom bought assorted granola bars from price club a few weeks ago...they had chocolate chip, smores, and peanut butter...yuck... i only have peanut butter left...maybe ill bring them to school and see who claims them.

LAN amazes me. i went to audiogalaxy to download some of the songs you guys were talking about earlier and literally by the time i'd finished clicking all of them to download (five of them), three of them were on my computer already. that's just high quality life right there.
anyway, ellen, that exact thing happens to me all the time. or at least it did first semester when i was in this really boring english class. i could tell i was tired when i was sitting in english class and then econ formulas would start running through my head. of course i also had econ right before it. anyway i'd be taking english notes and then write down econ formulas so i'd end up with stuff involving both efficiency and spenser. i guess the phrases weren't as interesting as yours were ... although once in a while i'd just let myself doodle while being half-asleep and all this stuff would come out of my subconscious, like about people i knew and stuff like that and that was kind of ... insightful in a strange way.
who's cool? okay, it's around 11:30 and i really want to go to sleep but i'm wondering whether i should look over chem or math or english since i have tests-quizzes in those subjects tomorrow but then i really want to go to sleep. so i think i will. i can't see when i'm supposed to draw two-four-one triangles in solving these stupid trig equations and expressions and this whole equilibrium concept is a blur while i just plug numbers into formulas .. and english is english. i should read over the plays. mm.
today is the palindrome day, right? supercool.
i think i have a sleeping disorder. i fall asleep everyday in school...ashamedly in most of my classes. how i manage to do well is still a mystery to me. but weird things happen when i start nodding. for example, my math notebook. when i doze off, i still take notes in this odd, messy handwriting that is virtually unreadable. anyway, i looked back on my old notes, and i find that i start writing weird phrases and words when i'm sleeping. my friend says they're messages that my unconscious mind is trying to push up towards reality. right. so in my notebook, there will be something like "quadratic equation, etc. etc." or a bunch of numbers, but then there will also be, "i am sitting alone in the bar" and "i think i'm in love, but i now i'm not" or "i wonder why i never got hurt," or "yelling cowboy from sinking." and i'm being serious -- right now i'm copying these things out of my math notes. its a crazy, crazy world.
i used to have this gifted and talented program in my old elementary school .. i remember skipping class once or twice a week and getting to sit around talking with the teacher and other kids about nothing. or we did these fun brainteaser things or had interesting projects -- once we did an educational play about shakespeare's works. i was a page and my role was to get stepped on by another servant. anyway, i fell asleep in gothelf's class today. not completely totally asleep, but i was nodding more and more .. it reminded me of church when i try so hard to stay awake but always end up nodding a whole lot. she didn't say anything during class, but she obviously noticed -- because i sit right in the corner in the first row right in front of her -- and after the bell rang she commented and said something like "so did you get enough sleep over the four-day weekend, derek?" mm, it was a bit embarrassing .. i should study and do well on her test tomorrow. and also the pre-calc quiz and the chem test. why doesn't gothelf like peanut butter?

my g&t teacher in middle school used to love peanut butter. but, he was on a diet, so he would hide his mad amounts of skippy in the corrosives cabinet. after his wife checked that he wasn't eating (she was a teacher too), then he took out his peanut butter and ate it during class. leesh should know about this. it was a great class though; thanks to his love of food, we got to design ice cream machines and make solar powered barbeque cookers. i went the other day to get a signature for my NHS application, and i saw all these beeday decorated lockers. *sob* the memories. i wish high school still had decorated lockers...it made birthdays so much more fun.
in any case, i just finished baking two dozen sugar cookies, all shaped like ears. i did an oral presentation today in french class about vincent van gogh. to my horror, i realized that i forgot prizes for my "educational activity" (we played "pin the ear on van gogh"...hah) portion of the project. so to make up for my mistake, i made cookies. is it weird eating food in the shape of ears? two kids in my class are organizing a senior spring break trip to cancun. it seems like a good price and maybe a good time, minus the sketchiness of cancun. my friends and i decided we would rather go on a tour of europe, and be all cool and economic by staying at youth hostels. mm k. *pokes derek* oh, and i have your wayne brady tape. also, go michelle kwan!
i think this break has...enervated...me. i spent another 4 hours at the library today with frank and neil, and we saw mike and christina there. we started looking for this jackie chan movie called "city hunter", but, heu heu, we couldn't find it. some of these literary criticisms can get rather...umm disturbing... my head hurts, my ears are ringing with their own ringing and the tv that is a bit too close to the study and my brother practicing chinese yoyo. alas, i do not know why, but i feel it happening and i am tormented by chemistry and english. i can't believe that i remembered that.
i wish i had chocolate apples. *pokes derek* i don't think mrs. gothelf likes peanut butter.
i have a question ... whatever happened to the "don't say specific things to specific people" mandate? interesting ...
derek: no.
waiiit a minute... u changed hte name of the blog again...u changed it to we all love peanut butter! I know exactly why u did that... u did that to spite me! derek! we ALL DO NOT LIKE PEANUT BUTTER...hmph...im gonna poke u in the head tomorrow... like ur freshman fanclub...'ooh derek! we love you!' *poke*
no offense or anything... but strawberry kiwi snapple is just about the only drink in this world that i cant stand... tis gross... anywho i spent the whole morning at middletown library trying to find sources... i found 3, so now i have 4 of 5, but the 5th source seems to illude me. no matter how many of those lit crit books i opened there was never any mention of the short story i was doing.. ooh well maybe ill make something up...iron chef is an awesome awesome show! the other day for valentines day they did chocolate and apples as the main ingredient... it was sooo awesome, i wish i had chocolate and apples...
ellen: so as someone who has never had and probably never will have cable television, i can't say that i feel very much sympathy for you. okay, maybe a little bit. oh, whatever happened to those episodes of "the wayne brady show" that you taped when i was in taiwan? i saw a commercial the other day on abc that said he was coming back sometime soon .. i think it was yesterday. i was watching "indiana jones: the temple of doom" and there were a bunch of chinese people in the beginning. including this guy who i've realized was in so many different movies and he always plays these strange evil people .. like i think he was in "kiss of the dragon" as that guy who gets killed and he was on "alias" as the bad guy who was pulling sydney's teeth and he was in some other movie i saw in taiwan where these chinese guys kidnapped the president and wanted to take over the world. i'll go look up who he is later. anyway, ellen, maybe you'll get your cable back soon. how does the mystikal song really go?
serena: i think someone took pictures. i saw cameras all around me. i think my favorite drink might be strawberry kiwi snapple, or it might be vanilla chai -- except i've only had one kind of chai, so -- or cherry slurpees or .. i really don't know. i'll have to think about it. richard: i've never seen "iron chef" -- so you should tape an episode for me. and give me "gone in sixty seconds" .. get it from karthik. i have your guitar amp still. ellie: is your computer fixed?
speaking of the food network, i haven't watched iron chef in a long while. that's one crazy show.
i need to find a ride to the manalapan library.
derek eating (almost) half a bottle of tabasco sauce will probably be the only time i will ever see him cry. i looked in my pantry today, just to affirm my belief that we do indeed have a "family size" tabasco sauce. it's right next to the "family size" wasabi tube. well, anyway.
awesome songs: in addition to vanessa carlton's "ten thousand miles," "ordinary day" is also very good. the shins: "caring is creepy." remy shand:"take a message" its like this neo soul funk thang going on. and he wrote, recorded, produced, and played all songs on his cd. in canada. so that's very cool, in addition to lisa loeb being #1 as an unsigned artist. um, and of course, duran duran: "a view to kill" its eighties musc and it was on the james bond soundtrack. how much better can you get? i told this to zi at the retreat, but -- a little girl who's a neighbor of my friend claims that mystikal's lyrics are, "take a bath, wash yourself/take a bath, show me what you got/take a bath, wash yourselft.." anyway, i thought that was very cute. i asked if she heard it on teen nick. ahhh speaking of teen nick (haha), i have no more cable tv! it has been taken away. what am i going to watch without mtv/vh1? or comedy central?? or the FOOD NETWORK?!?! i live for that channel. ouch. oh well...i never have time to watch tv anyway. i guess i'll have to stop taping the real world... Monday, February 18, 2002
gosh ive started this whole 'most awesome' song thing...but in my opinion there are many out there, not just one. so what's the most awesome drink out there?? i have to vote for caramel apple cidar from star bucks... or raspberry sorbet sipper from haagan daaz... gotta love those. christine ur such a latin nerd =T. oooh man... i missed the tabasco sauce thing...why didnt anyone take a picture???
while we're on the mention of awesome songs ... if you haven't heard it, "somebody's somebody" by christina aguilera. it's on my md player and now i just walk around campus mouthing the words looking like a crazy woman. it makes me want to make a music video.
anyway ... i have a lot of funny conversations saved since the beginning of the year. i should put them on my website or something. i need to make a new website first though. but here's one: WaKaDruM: i thought it was something....really serious WaKaDruM: like i have PMS or cancer or something xcgirlz: pms is on the level of cancer? ... well, *i* thought it was funny.
ok if you want to get into rap you can download "it's tricky" by run dmc.
maybe one day we should have a big tabasco sauce drinking or jalapeno pepper eating contest. peanut butter and jelly sandwiches are good stuff.
you are all wrong- the most quality song is "mama said knock you out" by ll cool j. good stuff. i wish i had seen derek's face explode, but life sometimes isn't fair, now is it?
you say, i only hear what i want to. hm, i think i started another blog a long, long time ago with words from stay. i love that song.
anyways.. the retreat was awesome. like a breath of fresh air. :) we had the coolest small group and the rooms were really nice and the food was good. speaking of which.. the [other] tabasco sauce incident was one of the funniest thing i think i've seen. well, maybe not. i was very tired at the time, so everything seemed hilarious to me. yeah, so eric put a bunch of tobasco sauce on his rice (i think that's how it started..) and derek wanted to try it too, so he put a little bit on his. eric told him that he put a lot more on than that so derek put a lot more on. he started to eat it and a few minutes later, his face was extremely red and a little sweaty and his nose started to bleed. hmm.. that was funny. but only because he thought that tobasco sauce was coming out of his nose. hahaha.. :o) what a pretty dress. i like red, too. and peanut butter. especially peanut butter and banana sandwiches! yum.
okay, fine. my pick for a quality song most awesome song favorite song is "stay (i missed you)" by lisa loeb. has your song been at number one on the billboard top singles list when the artist is unsigned and doesn't have an album, huh? yeah, that's what i thought. i like peanut butter.
it's all about 10,000 miles by Vanessa Carlton. Now THAT's a quality song.
serena, that dress looks very nice. i like the color red, just like Ovid.
ahh, stop plugging your most awesome songs .. though "what a good boy" is a good song when it's sung a cappella while "breathing" is really annoying. i don't like the guy's voice -- i think "hanging by a moment" was the only good song i liked that i heard from lifehouse, because the guy's voice was just too pearl jam similar annoying. ummm. i didn't mention anything about winter retreat yet. it was refreshing and i made a conscious decision to refocus and reprioritize my life -- as opposed to um, an unconscious one, right -- and well. i don't know, but i was feeling frustrated too. sigh, i need some more revival. and i want to try some more tabasco sauce. i wonder what i looked like when i was sweating and tears were coming out of my eyes ..
sweet misery and something to sleep to by michelle branch are also really awesome songs... go get hte michelle branch cd!!!!!1
download What a Good Boy by barenaked ladies because that is the most awesome song
it was all fun fun fun at the manalapan library yesterday for our gothelf party. somehow, there were 9 of us from period 8, and 1 from period 3. yes we had a heck of a time. i think by the 3rd hour we all wanted to push all the bookshelves down and smash all the computers. yea and bowling was fine until they started blasting nsync over the stereo. then my team died. nsync can really mess with your head. analyze this: i had the strangest dream. it was like a combination of indiana jones and lord of the rings and wizard of oz and the mummy. i was stuck in a tower on this pipe above a pool of killer alligators, and i used this rope to swing myself outside a window, after which i fell a couple thousand feet to the ground. i guess i managed to survive, because the next thing i knew i was running around in this big field filled with something similar to those pygmies from "the mummy returns", and all my friends were getting attacked. i was holding this bow and arrow (i think i was legolas, but it would have been fun to be gandalf), and i started running around some place similar to holmdel park until i passed this strange man who was staring at me, went inside this castle, after which i woke up and realized that i had been sleeping for a personal-record-tying 10 hours.
wow... im online pretty late... i dont think ive ever been online this late before... anywho i was looking at prom dresses online and i found a really really really really nice one... heres hte link.... u have to copy and paste it onto ur explorer thingy, u cant click on the link, so go check it out and tell me what u think!
[derek: i edited the link so it wouldn't take up so much space -- it's here] oh... and go dl lifehouse breathing, cuz that is the most awesome song! Sunday, February 17, 2002
i'm still tired. no, there was no new "alias" tonight, they were playing "raiders of the lost ark" .. i think i've seen that more than ten times. and the other indiana jones movies maybe once each -- i'm not even sure i've seen all of the rest. anyway, i drank between one-fourth and one-fifth of a little bottle of tabasco sauce today .. the goal was about half of the bottle, which was what was left in it. but i got to half of the half when it started really burning and i couldn't swallow it down anymore, and i was really afraid i was going to throw up -- which would've been really disgusting and embarrassing and messy when my things were already packed and it would be really annoying to change -- so i stopped. i was reading later about hot peppers at the tabasco sauce website and how they have this chemical called capsaicin that somehow stimulates the nerves and makes the brain think that it's experiencing pain, and that in turn gets the brain to release endorphins .. thus producing a euphoric feeling, a natural high. now that i think of it, i was a bit light-headed when my mouth was on fire. but i think i was mostly feeling this huge burning sensation, not really a high. i should try it again and pay more attention to what i feel.
NEW ALIAS TONITE!!!! i'm so excited.... =) everybody's talking about that speed skating thing, i didnt watch it so i'll just...imagine it. and hi you winter retreat guys, you're back already? i thought it was going to be longer, but welcome back.
oh, i forgot to mention anything about winter camp .. i'm so tired that i didn't do anything but respond to what was already here. umm -- i'll do it later when i come back online .. soon ..
"xp" looks like a smiley with its eyes closed and its tongue out. sigh, i haven't seen anything in the olympics yet and i doubt i ever will since my channel four is all messed up and it's fuzzy and in black and white and i can never really hear anything with the roaring sound that comes from the tv. michelle just referred to a speed skater as a "jap". sigh, the racism that's on this blog. ellen, i take it that you just started running for some unknown thing -- spring track? i wish i was a runner sometimes. only sometimes. maybe i should go run only sometimes.
umm, allison and steph say that mr. bird likes me, or else he wouldn't be joking with me .. right. i had a question about my test and he got the whole class involved. it was a bit strange to have him make these non-funny jokes with the whole class laughing at me or maybe it was him, but then he was pretty nice about the whole thing and explained to me that he didn't want me to evaluate the thing, i was only supposed write it in sigma notation so that someone anyone could look at it and write out the series blah blah blah. so i said "okay" and sat down, and then he said something like "you know i had this kid a long time ago who i used to joke with and i told him not to go home and tell his parents that mr. bird was picking on me and he started crying and i didn't feel bad" .. what a strange incident. my dad asked me if i wanted to install xp. we have windows millennium now.
oh that really sucks (the olympics thing). i'd be really mad. uncontrollably mad even.
my computer hardly works now that i've installed xp ... sad! this was the dumbest blog ever. Saturday, February 16, 2002
wow so just about the supidest thing in the olympics just happened...they were doing the semi-finals for inline speed skating and there were 5 guys on the line - and just on the last lap, one of the top guys fell and took out the other 2 guys in the lead, who are like the best speed skaters in theworld - so th two guys left behind, some chinese guy ad then an aussie guy advance to the finals - and in the finals u have anther 5 guys and so the whole time its ike a close race betwen these four guys and in the last lap or two the US guy breaks out to the front, and some jap/korean tries to overtake him but ends up falling and then he catches on to some oher guy in the front nsince all four of them are so close together they all fall literally like 20 feet from he finish line and the stupid australian guy who was too slow and therefore didn't getcaught in the mass-falling isthe last guy still on his feet and he crosses the finish line to get the gold nd the dumb judges didn't call for a redo on the race. the whole stadium was booing the australian b/c he's stupid and he doesn't deserve to win. blarg well that's my bit for the day.
i am sooo incredibly sore... ouch. ack, serves me right i suppose, i should have started running a lot earlier.... oh well, i'll get over it sooner or later. hopefully. anyway, ice dancing is really boring. i was watching it the other day and i nearly fell asleep it was so boring. maybe i shouldnt watch it anymore...? wow, everyone is at the church retreat thingy arent they? including derek so i dont even know why i'm blogging, he probably wouldnt even notice if i didnt.... so i'll be leaving now

ok guys, see the first words of the last blog were "my knee" and the last word was "odd." i think what i was trying to say here was that my knees are odd....puer, latin is fun.
my knees have taken quite a beating today. the gym floor hurts quite a bit, and when i got home today i kept hitting my knees on table legs and on the piano. ahh my knee. i expect to see a bruise on my elbow soon.
mr. bird's class was really weird today. i wonder what happened to him. i hope you people have fun at your retreat, while i don't know what i'm going to do. i should start my topic outline soon. my parents went to new york to celebrate valentines day...a day late...and pick up my grandparents at the airport tomorrow morning. so i have to spend the night at my aunts (or ellen's) house. what fun. i don't know whether that should be sarcastic or not. there were four police cars at my neighbor's house this morning. how odd. Thursday, February 14, 2002
hello jessica, where have you been, all gas stations in the state of new jersey -- which is one of the few strange states where you have to have a person fill up your car with gas for you -- are indians from india who talk like indians and so. i'm going to go to sleep now.
i remember one time i went to a gas station for my mom... to get gas... and the attendant was from india i think. and he was kind of telling us his life story. and he was saying how his family was still in india... and he came over to the united states to find a wife for his son. and then he asked us if we knew any nice indian girls that we could introduce to him... it was a tad strange, but sad in a way. and that's my gas station story. i have so much homework, why did i come to blogger? it was almost an unconscious action... ahh.
i might be in trouble. i think i left my copy -- let me rephrase that, one of mrs. bryer's copies -- of "johnny got his gun" either in a room at howell high school or on the holmdel school bus that we came back on. i came home and couldn't find it to take with me to orchestra to waste time with. so i lost it. and i'm going to see if bryer is willing to give me another copy so i can read it over the weekend .. i'll tell her that the one i borrowed is misplaced and i will definitely get it back somehow or buy another copy for her but please please oh please could you let lend me another book so i can read it over the weekend when i'm gone at winter camp please. that's probably how my pleading is going to go.
ahh E.T. is already taken!! that's my other cousin anthony's name! yes..so ellen can't be E.T.
why the heck is village school holding a valentines day dance for 2nd graders? now my brother wants to go because it's "cool." his delinquent days are coming...oh wait they're already here... hmm....we were planning on watching all quiet on the western front and going bowling this weekend, but we watched the movie in history already. what other world war I movies are there? the one gas station attendant i've talked to so far was pretty nice. i forgot to pop the cover, and i expected him to go crazy, but he just laughed. and then later he smiled and told us to have a nice day. i don't remember exactly what he looked like, but ernest borgnine (or Kat from all quiet on the western front) reminded me of him. if i ever get a car i'll remember to take a pen from the dealership. if i get a car from a dealership.
Happy Valentines DAy !! yes steen already said that, but i came to blog for the purpose of saying that. Wow... steen, i didn't even know that you were on this blog...but... hiii, hehe, not that i dont see you everyday anyway. Anywho I hope everyone is having a great V-Day, and not wearing all black like gracee was...its pretty obvious if you wear black that ur anti Valentine's Day, and no one should be! Did everyone see the inflatable Mr. Perfect that grace got? I want one! I went to LSC once when i was in 4th grade for a field trip. A bunch of us went into the touch tunnel and i think i sorta didnt keep my hand on the left wall, and a bunch of us wandered somewhere and got lost. So this kid Evan Hatter had a flashlight and we tried to find our way, but we just... got lost. So these people from no where came on the loudspeaker and said are you kids alright? and we just screamed because we were puny 4th graders. So they turned on the lights and we got to see the light wonders of the touch tunnel... they had plastic slides and carpet walls, and we eventually found our way back to the correct wall ur supposed to hold onto, and then they turned off hte lights again. Wow that was one of the scariest experiences of my young life. I hope i conveyed it in scary details so that all of you are spooked now! haha.... right, see ya'll later
Happy Valentine's Day!
Flagella is a funny word...and it makes me think of weird microscopic things...with tails that whip around...um..yeah. Btw, hi, I know it's been a while since I've blogged...like many years, but I was threatened to have my blogging priveleges revoked if I didn't blog soon, so here i am! Ouch, my lips hurt. They're all chapped and stuff for some unknown reason and this morning when I woke up, they were all swollen and red. yuck. I wonder what people would look like without lips, to just have these flaps of flesh hanging over their teeth. Lovely thought, i know....
let's call ellen (t.) ET. hee hee.. hey, you know, they're re-releasing that soon. yeah, anyways, :) gajellan also sounds like.flagella. well, maybe not that much. daarn. :o)
wah, i just realized that i have some SERIOUS stocking up to do for the retreat. maybe i can convince my mommy to take me to acme, too. i think i'll bring a stock of clementines. yummm. clementines. i've been having them every day for about two weeks now. i'm a clementine junkie. a clunkie. [hahahahaha.. yay] i've witnessed so many odd/embarrassing encounters with gas station attendants. or maybe just a few. one time it was because the guy didn't fill my mom's tank all the way because the counter didn't start at zero or something [we drove back and my mom had a little.. uh.. altercation with him] and another time my mom was SO convinced that the guy took a twenty and didn't give it back and my dad was all confused, so we had to go back and have another altercation. and then this OTHER time, i was driving and we got gas and the guy didn't want to give us coins so he was walking away without giving me change and i was like, hey, where's my change and he got all huffy and was like, fine, i'll just give you back a dollar and blah blah blah. it was the same guy as the twenty-encounter, too. so embarrassing. i'll never be able to survive with my own car. oh no, i need to do homework. curses, another hour wasted. bah.
hey, can we be triplets? i'm not in the holmdel bubble either and it's sad. ah, not that sad. but kind of sadder because i live in holmdel. well, not currently. hm ...
hi my name is ellie and i have perfect pitch. no, i don't. apparently i do change my mind a lot though, looking at the last two paragraphs ... i literally cannot believe that you're driving, ellen (t). and all you other little kids. who are ... now ... the same age as i am. hey let's call ellen (t) mr. t or something. or something having to do with having a lot of gaudy gold jewelry. like, "gaudy gold jewelry." let's call her ggj. that doesn't look right ... ggjellen. gajellan (like magellan only not at all). i have a chem (organic) test tomorrow and when i think about it i want to cry ... Wednesday, February 13, 2002
agh, this stupid chem homework. i'm still on chapter twelve, and i just figured out that the letter "e" really means e as in the 2.718 whatever number that's used with natural logarithms and it wasn't some weird subscript like i thought it was .. grr. so i did all these problems wrong and i was looking at the back of the book and wondering what the i was doing wrong and redoing all these problems over and over again and so. at least i get it now. kind of. stupid chem problems.
connie and i share the same feelings. i'm an outsider to the holmdel bubble. wow, like, we're twins.
i was getting gas today (first time!) with my friend, and i ordered by saying, "fill 'er up!" my friend asks if my car is a girl. in any case, he named my car vern the volvo. attractive, huh? i'm so cool that i don't know what to do with myself. haha, i have my piano teacher on my buddy list just like jess! i once offered michelle ten dollars if she would IM her, but she refused. i think i would too...=P i'm really excited for winter camp (aka retreat da church is having), mostly because apparently we have really nice rooms, and i have a very nice roomie! =D i'm going to attack acme friday afternoon for room reinforcements. compiled between lashe and i, our list (so far) is : salt & vinegar chips, fruit snacks, chewy chocolate chip cookies, goldfish, (the very very good) salt & pepper pretzels, disney juice pouches, oj, fruit, and...well, that's it so far. somehow i have a feeling that 1. i'm going to get fat this weekend and 2. i'm going to get really really fat. this is exciting. maybe i'll sport the hot spandex and run during free time. does anyone want to join me? in other news, i think i'm going to go to the LSC (the cool way of saying liberty science center) on monday. remember when that place was all the rage?? and kids would go there for literally every possible reason (field trips, boy scouts, girl scouts, weekends, holidays...)?? my friends and i are trying to rekindle that trend. i'm going to conquer the touch tunnel. i can then become an accomplished adolescent. nice!
oh foo, i just completely lost my whole entire really really long blog because aol disconnected me... i bet richard is going to be laughing at me tomorrow because he hates aol. speaking of richard, yes i am honker to my extended family, and richard is kermit/froggie/ichard. wow he has a lot of nicknames. i'm wondering why....? hey, i'm also 'the other one, the new one, haha the little one', thanks derek. so anyway, hii again to everyone i know and everyone i dont, i feel so special when people know me... =) awww i felt bad for todd eldridge last night, i wanted him to win something, its a little pathetic, but i felt bad for him anyway and i was like yelling at the TV when he fell...3 times. so i felt really retarded afterward for flipping out at a screen. periods make me feel uncomfortable. like that one. but ellipses make me feel uncomfortable too, i still dont know how i should punctuate in blogs and emails... i finally watched last week's alias today, sydney kicks butt. oh and i watched last week's friends too... i love joey, he's so funny! i have about a million other shows on my tape, i guess i'll watch them over the weekend while i run... somebody told me that its hazardous to your health to run on a treadmill and watch friends at the same time because this one kid fell over laughing while he was riding an exercise bike while watching it... when you imagine it, its pretty funny, or maybe its just me and my funkalized imagination... wow this blog seems really long...!
aahahahaha. bird was yelling at srikar for leaning backwards over his chair so that he was talking to neil upside down. he did that to me all last year in clayton's class.
ahh so we had probably our most intense game of indoor soccer today. we kept scoring goals like BAM! BAM! it was crazy. i was watching some soccer between the U.S. and italy when i got home, and of course the U.S. lost. Honker is from sesame street. it was ellen's (honker's) brother's idea.
wow im blogging consecutively... theres curling on the olympics right now, thats got to be the funniest sport ever... go watch!
derk- u changed the name of your blog? again?
'love lifts us up where we belong, where eagles fly on a mountain high, love makes us act like we are fools, throw our lives away for one happy day, we can be heroes'
So that was from the Moulin Rouge soundtrack and in the spirit of valentines day which happens to be tomorrow. Oh and I just bought the CD!!! and i just got hte michelle branch cd, which i havent listened to yet cuz im listening to the Moulin Rouge cd. Wow, there are like 30 new blogs all from yesterday! For the record, when I joined this blog something like a year ago no one introduced me!!! Maybe cuz i know the majority of you, but its all ok... im not BITTER or anything... I'll be nice, Hi Ellen, I'm Serena, you seem to already know me, but I don't think I know you, how strange some things are. Congrats to Allison on getting her license! And a car! I'm terribly jealous!! Someone send me the Chem pictures! I feel bad for the non asian people in our class, its like we take over...ooowie, I went to starbucks today in the grove and i got a caramel apple cider cuz its one of the only non coffee drinks they have (i know, go to starbucks not to drink coffee) and it was really hot, i burned my tongue... i might be talking funny tomorrow! NO ONE LAUGH! I also got these really nice pants from GAP which were... too expensive....yes... ok, blog blog blog, i think ive blogged enough, bye derk (had to...) bye everyone
so ellen told me that it was confusing when people said "ellen" -- like i did just now before, yes -- and she didn't know who they were referring to .. my suggestion was that she come up with some kind of code name for herself. i also suggested "poop face" as a pseudonym for her, but i don't think she really liked that. maybe we can all think of a nickname for her to go by. or we can just call ellen -- the other one, the new one, haha the little one -- "honkers" like richard said. i don't get it.
those chem pictures would've been dull without me, no?
hey ellen! you know me too :) alleeeeeson got her liscence! i don't think she reads this blog that much. so at the chinese new years celebration on saturday, my mom won a computer monitor. a nice new monitor... and it's just sitting in the basement because there's no point in changing monitors right now. because its the same size.. so they said they'd save it for me to take to college. by which time it will probably be horribly out of date, but i was still excited :) and my dad was saying how he thought us teenagers (me, grace, annie, dave wei, mindie, brian chan) were so very cool because we cheered extremely loudly when he went up to draw a winner ticket. and ellen t was there too.. and derek.. lets see who else is on this blog who was there. i don't remember. oh well. michael vartan is very hot... yes. i was going to blog about something else but... i can't remember. so i've realized that i laugh at pretty much everything. i may even be worse than steph now. which is not necessarily a bad thing :) so ellen tsay, on one of your blogs you were like "my friend from livingston IMs me and says..." and at first i though you said "mrs. livingston imed me..." or something to that effect. and that really really scared me. until i went back and read it more slowly... for everyone who doesn't know, mrs. livingston is our piano teacher... a quite interesting character, yes? and for some odd reason i have her screenname on my buddy list. she doesn't have mine though. and i see her come online at the strangest times... so mr. bird yelled really loudly and scarily and srikar today. and no one had any idea what he was yelling about. maybe he was laughing at mr. bird or something. so in one of these pictures of our chem class for the chinese new years party we had, derek is holding chopsticks and it looks like he's trying to pick up rich's head. it's quite interesting... hey guess what, tomorrow is valentines day. and guess where i'm going to be. at nerd club science league. YEsSsSssSSssSssSSSSsSsSSsSSS!!! oh well, not like i had a valentine anyway :) and i still can't remember what i wanted to say before, so i guess i'll stop dragging this blog out. oh no, i ended that sentence with a preposition, mrs. gothelf would be oh so disappointed. i guess i'll look for some secondary sources now...
i felt an incredible desire to blog just now. hm. :P
happy birfday, allison! (hey, did you know that her name rearranges to "all is on, a-ok"? hahahahaha.. i figured that out in latin the other day. i am a genius.) anyways. i feel bad because i am not in the habit, and never have been, of giving people birthday presents/cards unless they're having a party. i feel so .. niggardly. stingy. cheap. i'm sorry :( it doesn't mean i love you any less! :o) wow, it's late. hello, ellen h! i'm stephanie. i, too, enjoy alias. (the last episode was so good!! michael vartan is so hot!! omigosh. hahahaha.. right.. i don't normally say things like that. okay, maybe i do. :oP) welcome to the blog. =) Tuesday, February 12, 2002
whoa, blogs are appearing randomly! aaa!
i like sandwiching blogs. it's fun. 12 blogs in less than an hour. wheee ...
mr. lane camouflages in every picture. the walls like to engulf him.
dave and i are making a brochure on why you should go to modern, hip mid'south instead of ghetto south. with really cool photos. you should see it sometime.
what the. where are all these blogs coming from, i just came back randomly and there's two new blogs! uh oh, i think i completely forgot to say happy birthday to allison. not that she reads this blog -- maybe she does. i have no idea who visits this regularly. hello to everyone out there. umm, i really have to get presents and gifts done .. i'm hoping by the end of february. no wait, that was my website. no wait, that was my studying for the sat. i signed up and registered last night for three separate sat dates .. sat-i in march, three sat-ii subject tests math writing chem in may, and three sat-ii tests math writing physics in june. the repeated math and writing are just in case i'm unhappy with my may score, and then i can take them again. but if i like the scores, i'm thinking i can just not show up to the tests in june. caitlin said it was like answering something on a vocab quiz. i'm going to get to know ellie's sat books very well .. maybe i'll bring one or two to winter camp. i wish i missed school today. actually, probably not, because i doubt anyone else would've missed it with me.
yes i'm very ecstatic...everyone should call ellen honker, because that's her name. so when you pass her in the hall, just yell out , "hey honker!" and run away quickly.
anyway, jack sends me the pictures of our "quasi" chem chinese new year party and we're all looking very chinese in it because i can't see anybody's eyes. or maybe we all just blinked at the same time. ::blink:: english is a pain in the arse.
ahhhhh too many ellens!!!! haha. HAPPY BEEDAY ALLISNOT!!! if you ever read this...expect random things to arrive in your mailbox. at random times. i have this new thing -- of giving people presents on the inappropriate day. for example, i am giving my friend her christmas present in april. then, it'll be like the christmas that keeps on giving. well anyway, allison, keep your eyes open because i'm a spy. therefore, you will be surprised by my uncanny ablilty to sneak random things (spy style) in your mailbox for your beeday. courtesy of the post man, of course. but on random days! i think i'm giving a strange impression of myself to the new young 'uns on this blog.
s
weezer! aw yeah, rivers rocks.
so, my friend from livingston IMs me and says, "hey, did you stay home today for chinese new year?" to which i replied, "uh...nope." well apparently, he and the other livingston asian kids get an excused absence for today. totally, totally unfair. my school should have that. it wouldn't be too much of a loss either -- maybe 3 kids are absent? do you think if i approached the principal with something like, "our school should be more culturally informed. thus, we should have excused absenses for chinese new year. the students will get to experience the atmosphere and celebration of the new year," he would allow it? mm...mr. lane probably would. i think he tries to be open minded, or something. hi ellen! i think YOU have the same name as me. jk. i thought you were a different ellen h at first, then i realized that...you weren't. anyway, there seems to be a lot of asian ellens. i know about nine now. one of them has the same birthday as me, which is twice as weird. alias boy = super super hot. so is that chick from "smallville." haha... hey, it's almost valentine's day! sadly, i have no valentine this year. =( but on the plus side, in two classes we're making/handing out valentines, complete with the personalized "mailboxes," aka shoeboxes, that we make! so great -- i haven't done this since second grade. =D
"hey, i'm lee-shing, and i have ... relative pitch" ... then again, ellen already knows me. if this is the right ellen. which it must be. at least i hope. right. hi ellen!!! hehe. she's the new ellie (right, ellie?) dance of the reed flutes! woohoo!
and speaking of candles and societies, as the big taper was being passed at the french honor society induction, the hot wax decided to suddenly attack me as i was reciting "toujours le mieux" ("l'homme qui sait deux langues en vaut deux") and wincing in pain. and then we sang the marseillaise. pretty horribly. and then dave played the toreador song. and then i had to play with the wax crusting on my dead, lifeless fingers. it was fun. and speaking of "allison's sweet sixteen" ... happy birthday, allison!!!
isn't it "ozma", like the name of one of those dumb-looking sequels to the "wizard of oz" books that bryer showed us? anyway, i told caitlin that her favorite band was mentioned on the blog, and she says she doesn't want to see it because it'll make her sad. and jealous. i want to go see some concerts. except most of the ones i want to see are in smaller cafe- or hall-type settings and it always turns out that they're eighteen and over shows, for some strange reasons .. like i wanted to see lisa loeb and duncan sheik and ivy and some other bands when they were playing in new york, sigh. oh well, anyway. when i turn eighteen.
i've been listening to exit ten lately. ahh, i really like the girl's voice. just wondering, do worship bands go on tour? like i know they were worship leaders for passion oneday, but anyway .. i've never seen a real popular worship band play live. okay. everyone, this is ellen. she's richard's cousin, and richard is probably ecstatic that i invited her to the blog. ellen, this is everybody. hopefully they'll all say hi to you and maybe introduce themselves in some way .. like "hey, i'm derek and i have perfect pitch" -- something to that effect. i remember how dave was looking for "richard from the blog" one time somewhere i don't remember. oh wait, i think it was allison's sweet sixteen. maybe. hi ichard.
wow. you had a chinese new year party in chem? in SCHOOL?? gosh, we do'nt even have enough chinese people in the SCHOOL to be recognized. but a few people reminded me that it was chinese new year's today cuz i totally forgot. i went to nhs inductions tonight and someone was like, connie, why are you here? and i said what? =) and she said, isn't it chinese new year? and i thought about it, and said, oh yeah! =) so that's my big story of the day. that and a few of us finding the thought of a junior accidentally lighting their incredibly flammable robes on fire during the candle ceremony extremely amusing. and making fun of some of our friends who decided to wear jeans and/or sneakers. haha. yep, gnite.
i didn't go online yesterday, so i went to catch up on the latest blogs. so i clicked on archives. and woah, i was scrolling down and there were like 30 new blogs! it was crazy. i was very impressed with you, derek. and then i looked at the date and it said tuesday, february 20. and today february 20 has not happened yet! i was looking at the wrong year. i'm not a very smart person.
i saw weezer last night! hurrah for weezer! they were so awesome, it was the most amazing concert. but the opening bands osmo and saves the day played way too long and they weren't very good and took them forever to set up stuff. so the concert started at 7:30, but weezer didn't come on until 9:45. but it was well worth it. definitely one of the best concerts around. and we had great seats- front and center! =) catch ya on the flipside!
uhh hi everybody, how come everybody uses their real name? am i like strange? i think i am... wow you watch alias too?? i love alias... jennifer garner and michael vartan are both really hot.... hiiii ichard!! i know tomorrow you're going to be spazzing at me because i joined this blog.... and hey, somebody in this blog has the same name as me..! that is just too cool.... oh and happy new year everyone!! derek, you really need to introduce me to some people here because i only know you and richard and i know who serena is because she's in richard's grade... anyways, i think i'll shut up now because i'm starting to sound really retarded, which i am. byye
ay, this has really been such a bad month so far .. i stayed up past one last night, the first time i've ever done that on a school night. i was doing this annoying chem homework, and i still didn't really get any done. sigh. at least we had a chinese new year quasi-party today and we had food in chem. i'm really not in a blogging mood at the moment. i can't think of anything to say, okay, so i'm going to leave and come back another time .. bye-bye.

i hope everyone is having a great new year, im watching the olympics, the poor girl just fell... oooh to kill a mockinbird is succcch a goood book! it starts out boring, but i absolutely loved it, i think its hte first book i actually cried during. maybe ill try and read 'the heart is a lonely hunter' that might prove to be a good book. oooh my gosh, the guy in alias, michael vartan... oooh myyyy he's hotttttt. especially in never been kissed... he's H-O-T... so dreamy...
i'm reading 4 books at the same time right now ( i...don't know what compelled me to do this), and i'm getting confused between the characters. for school, i'm reading "to kill a mockingbird," which is inconveniently very very similar to "the heart is a lonely hunter." both are written in the same style, set in southern towns, in about the same time period, and both have female characters who don't quite fit in, etc.etc. anyway, so during the class discussion on friday, i raise my hand to say, "the relationship between the mutes...etc. reminds me of the relationships in 'the great gatsby...'" and i said this whole rantish "i want to sound intellectual" comment, and i felt all smart -- until my teacher was like, "ellen, are you on crack? there are no mutes in 'to kill a mockingbird.'" haha..hm. so then, i'm also reading the first harry potter book (yeah, i know, everyone already read it..). it would be funny if i start imagining harry potter or prof. dumbledore in "to kill a mockingbird." wooo hardcore.
ahhh the guy in alias is super hot. =D the shins are cool, and i remember watching a clip of stereophonics playing a live version of "have a nice day" on mtv.com -- it was hardcore. Sunday, February 10, 2002
ddeer eek k: did you watch "alias"?
ddeer eek k: this was one of the best episodes ddeer eek k: and the hot guy was in most of it ddeer eek k: .. i only call him that because you did anyway ... i ate one and a half fortune cookies today. my fortunes were boring but my friend got one that said, "your lover will never want to leave you." or something to that effect. so it was funny. i came back from a retreat today and it was hardcore awesome. (don't know what made me choose that combination of adjectives.) (i guess "hardcore" would be an adverb there because it was modifying an adjective.) anyway, it was really cool, and so good to get to know people in my fellowship here better, and it was very good to spend a whole weekend with christians. yummy!
the word "aphorism" makes me think of the word "euphoric". i felt slightly euphoric yesterday, but not maddeningly happy, just kind of maddenlingly mad, as in crazy-mad. wahaha, our chinese new year orchestra thing was kind of off because in the middle, kevin and i turned our heads and started staring at richard's cousin ellen and she kind of skipped a beat, which then threw off the whole song .. i felt kind of bad afterwards. like embarrassingly sorry. anyway, i won these stupid trolls holding apples that say "i *heart* my teacher" and "#1 teacher" .. what are the chances that i would win two of those ew[peritld;fkjgbhvckbjyotwe things, grr. mm, i think i might give them to mr. bird. maybe our whole class can have some kind of plan to present it to him. i wanted this huge gorilla stuffed animal, but some little kid won it and i wanted to beat her up. okay, not really, but the thought did cross my mind, but only because the kid next to me said "let's beat her up". so it wasn't really my thought at all. i also won five dollars in cash and this very strange wind-up doll that played some annoying music box tune and was very disturbing in the way that its hands were permanently stuck inside his overalls and the expression on his face seemed .. well, anyway. i wish my parents celebrated chinese new year more. like the whole "gong xi fa cai" thing and red packets thing would be nice ..
i ate two fortune cookies today. but they didn't have fortunes inside. they had aphorisms. its so sad. whatever happened to the fortunes?! no one ever seems to get fortunes anymore! just weird things like "what you left behind is more mellow than wine." they're turning into aphorism cookies!
i finished reading "the virgin suicides" yesterday. what a weird book, it was alright. i like "motherless brooklyn" better though. i think it would rock the proverbial house if the winter camp handbook featured a picture of a runner stepping in poop. it would be very forrest gump-ish, eh? there's lots and lots of mucus and phlegm in my throat.
so...im studying math...actually taking a break from studying math, its getting a little monotonous multiplying everything by pi/180...so last night was my chinese new year performance thing. its kinda sad really, that that was my last one, after all these years its finally come to an end. I think its one of the first things in my life that ive been doing for such a long time that is coming to an end, and its all because im growing up. thats so sad... well, we had a lot of fun actually, even though the dance really sucked. Some of my friends and I were doing shakira impressions right before we got on stage...it was funny. We had these purple do-rags, and really ugly skirts, and a purple button up that showed our stomachs whenever we lifted our arms, and one fo the parents said that we could dance like britney spears. So we decided that she wasnt our favorite and that we liked shakira more. Fun stuff

my baseball team, the Atlanta Braves, was winless for two straight years in 4th and 5th grade. boy that was fun. i actually struck someone out once. and even though i never got a hit, my on base % was like 70% b/c i was so short i always got walked. maybe that's why i never got a hit...
my soccer team was pretty darn good. i was always on defense, but one time i was on offense during the last game of the season, i remember faking out Kungfucius near the goal, but my shot was like 5 feet wide. and i got the most improved player award on my team! today was the most insane and inane day of my life. lion dance practice, chinese orchestra practice, tennis, more lion dance practice, stuffing myself with chinese food, playing ratscrew (the inane part), performing lion dance, playing with bouncy balls with derek (inane part), watching some of the other performances, and whacking drums and cymbals with derek and kevin for 3 pieces of music for my mom's orchestra, and loading all the stuff into our odyssey. i am rather enervated. and i need to work on my woodie wilson outline. this is insane. i'm all Chinesed out. wah, prom is scary. so i actually asked someone after well, a little bit of thinking and a lot of being asked who i was going to ask and some people saying that i should do something soon, but i felt kind of annoyed at myself that i asked the girl online. through instant messenger. i should've called her or asked in person .. well, it's too late now. and apparently quite a few people know now that i asked, but i don't know if i'm supposed to go and tell everyone -- haha, so if she wants to say, i'll let her say it. this is such a strange year. wow, ninety dollars for prom .. why are they called "bids"? i wish i were playing indoor soccer in gym right now. i have weight room again, and this is the fifth quarter that i've had it since coming to holmdel, agh. i really like soccer, too. except my aim isn't so great when i'm charging the goal, so i just usually stay back on defense and trip people and kick them in the shins. i remember playing soccer when i was a little little kid in texas and our team was called the fire ants and we had red and black uniforms and we were the worst team ever. i remember playing this team called the terminators and this other one called the eagles and we were demolished by both of them. i have home videos somewhere -- my parents were considerate enough to film some of the most traumatizing moments of my childhood. the terminators, brr. i think they seemed abnormally large for first and second graders .. steroids are bad for you. don't take steroids. hey, "have a nice day" by stereophonics is a really good song, and i have a few other songs by them too, but it's so cool when it's all retro-ey with "ba ba da da ba ba da da da" in the beginning .. i think i got it off a site with music from "roswell". oh i remember, i got in a fight once in chinese school, but i didn't really fight back. it was because i threw an eraser at this kid and for some reason he just went nuts and tried to kill me, but i just held him off as well as i could without hurting him back. i'm a nice person. sometimes. most of the time, hopefully. and i have to go to sleep now.
chinese new year. mm, haven't been to one of those in awhile i don't think. er, maybe a year or so. haha...ellen...your goal this year is to find a decent prom date? that's...nice=) our prom is june 7th. i'm going. it better be fun. prom fever hasn't swept through our school yet. i think it's a bit early. but i actually heard quite a few people talking about it today. which is...ironic. in a way. and last year was the first junior prom in our school's history, and so many people saw it as a joke. which it...could have been, i guess. some kids threw a HUGE party the same night, out of spite. but the turnout wasn't too bad. i just found it weird that i live almost walking distance to the place it was held. proms are pointless. the only reason i want to go is to wear a cool dress. and to see other people's cool dresses. i'm going dress shopping sometime soon. yay!
wow... i guess when i don't blog for a long time, I miss valuable conversation topic. How in the heck did we get to fights? Well for the record, I've never seen a fight before... eh... tooooo much work this weekend, in fact I should be doing some now so that I don't have to do it Sunday. I, like you, steph, am turning into a gossip... i should really stop, but its soooooo cute to find out who asks who... very cute, everyone does that awwww thing, hehe. i can't believe bids are 90 dollars... thast just... a lot... yea but my friend dana's bids are 120, so... maybe its a little better. oooh i did leg curls in weight room the other day... and my butt is soooo sore today... i think i told richard this morning when we were walking out of chem... ooh the olympics are on...
everyone come to the chinese new year thing tomorrow! be there or we'll bring it to you and do lion dance and lots of other crazy stuff in your house while you're trying to read johnny got his gun and study for math and fizziks and do apchem hw. although that would be a bit complicated...
so being goalie isn't quite as intense as being out on the "field". or gym floor, but i guess that was because of good defense. my lower body is all banged and bruised up and it hurts to walk, just like everyone else... and one ball today came a little too close to a certain area. boy this sport is dangerous, but a heck of a lot of fun.
i almost got into a fight once...yea...those were the anger days. a high concentration of testoterone dissolved in hubris yields a precipitate of a fight between guys.
i don't remember ever seeing a fight before. actually, i saw one almost happen.. but someone broke it up before anything *actually* happened. hmm.. guys are a little testosterone-y sometimes. girls get estrogen-y, too. but no one notices, because that's when we start to mope around. :o) i really like 'have a nice day' by the stereophonics. i kind of downloaded it randomly a few weeks ago. it's nice. =)
this week has been incredibly long. aaaaaaah. i'm getting very very sick of school. hahaha.. prom fever. it's been rapant in holmdel for the past two weeks. it just kind of.. ballooned. craziness. and i'm turning into a terrible gossip. i can't help it though.. it's just too interesting to hear who's asking who or who's going with who. i need to learn to control myself. people might get annoyed. :oP i want to kickbox. i hear it's a killer workout for your butt. :)
i see too many fights. i think today counts as the seventh fight. for some reason, i always happen to be at the wrong place and time. oh, and my lunch period last year was full of hoodlums, so i think i saw four fights there. um..but today was really scary. frighteningly scary. and boys are stupid!! (that was a very unfair generalization) they were fighting over the most meaningless things. and why do boys fight?? or wrestle?? even for fun?? like, what's up with fight club?? girls don't have fight club. and i never understood why guys liked to wrestle each other. it seems weird to me. its like some weird savage and animalistic behavior or something. hmm...i'm bashing the male race a lot. hehe, oops.
well anyway, uh, when i was walking around the halls, the amount of blood on the floor from the fighting/cuts/glass seriously looked like someone was shot or knifed or killed. it was like, trails of thick blood starting from the main entrance until the cafeteria..and then it ended in these splatters and puddles of blood. *shudder* i feel sorry for them though. one of them was actually a really nice guy. he acted stupid in middle school, but he was really starting to grow out of his over testosterone charged urges to fight. he was turning into a good guy, and everybody knew it. its kind of weird seeing how one mistake can change everything back to the way it was. kind of like running a lot to get in shape..and then binge eating. hah... did this week seem really really long, or is it just me? also, after talking to derek last night, i started getting prom fever. although, unlike holmdel, no one in my school is really asking anyone yet. i'm guessing that when people start asking, it'll turn into a frenzy. my goal this spring, besides good grades and a nice arms/stomach, is to find a decent prom date. gee, i'm motivated for all the right things in life. Thursday, February 07, 2002
i saw a few fights. but luckily for them, they were all stopped before someone was on the floor bleeding -- actually, they were all stopped pretty soon after someone hit another person. i want to try kickboxing .. or maybe just boxing. i have a plan for what to do in case i ever get into a fight. bam. i've never seen a food fight before, either. what a waste of good food.
anyway, i haven't been in the mood to blog lately. i'm going to go to sleep soon, and make the handbook for winter camp tomorrow after school .. it should be fun. i also have this annoying chem homework to do all during the weekend -- well. what a boring blog.
hey, i read that article in time also! weblogging. niice.
can you believe it, in four years of high school, i have never once witnessed a fight. i hear about them all the time, but i'm never in the ..."right"... place. and this year the day before winter break there was a food fight in every lunch period! but of course, i happened to miss that too because i eat in the senior lounge aka "commons" or whatever. it's more like a hallway with tables. but from what i heard, it was an all out fight. very cool. my friends got hit with fries and mashed potatoes and flying soda and salad and stuff. i really wanted to be there. i spent a massive amount of money at the mall today. actually, my mom spent it for me.
A time-limited sports is nothing like life. In sports, success and effort are directly related. The harder you try, the more likely you will succeed. Life, however, is not like that. It's quite...random, and it depends on a lot of other things besides what you do.
So my school is filled with intelligent people. So this morning, before homeroom, there was this massive brawl in the commons. This one kid got punched and pushed into one of the windows, and it shattered. I missed it though; i think i would have been amused...though i probably shouldn't. I started running today, after not running since...august? I felt...great.
aw, richard, you're not a mean person. you are very nice. :o) and that was really funny in class today. but it was only funny because we had NO idea what you guys were laughing about. and you guys never say anything, so it was also funny because everyone was really quiet and all of a sudden, all of you people in the back started laughing. :) i was very amused by that essay today. i couldn't get over the "you stupid kids" line. i think i'm too easily amused.
ah, johnny got his gun. it makes my want to cry or go back in time and try to stop WWI from happening. hahaha.. like in back to the future, but not really. right. :) yeah, i haven't read that much either. it's still sad/depressing, though. hey, they had an article on blogging in time magazine. neato. :o)
i think my hands are possessed. i always have urges to pick up balls that are randomly rolling around, and today during some intense indoor soccer i had this sudden urge to pick up the ball. maybe i thought i was the goalie. i thought i managed to get my hands out of the way in time, but i got called for a handball anyway. i should be able to make a coach's challenge, or players challenge. with instant replay. i'm going to be goalie for the next game. i think i'd rather use my hands.
then in english today we were having a class discussion about throwing snowballs, and Kungfucius said that if the guy just rolled down his window to yell, the kids would have just thrown the snowballs into the window. then I made this random hand movement...or my hands made this movement...of throwing snowballs, and suddenly everyone starts laughing. and gothelf starts staring at me and says, "whats going on here?... rich?...well i don't think we need to know..." so i was sitting around pondering for some time. tennis is just like life. in pretty much every way. more so than in football or basketball or any sport that has a time limit, b/c in real life there's no one there to run out the clock to the end of your life. when u screw up a point, you forget about it and concentrate on the next point. just remember to not screw up the same way. so u fudge up a test, forget the score, remember what you did wrong, and focus on the next test. and no matter how far down you are, you can always work your way back up. a match isn't over until the last point is over. i feel like i'm preaching. i think i'm only saying this to make myself feel better when we get our chem tests back tomorrow. i could make a million more analogies but its time to make my mathematical proof of this idea and earn my nobel prize.....
johnny got his gun is so sad. and i'm only on page 25.
strange, i've noticed that people are using html tags in their blogs .. like the ones to italicize or put text in boldface -- where did all this come from? does everyone here know html? right, anyway, i want to take a nap. i'm going to wake up later and do math and chem and history and then make the handbook for the winter camp .. that should be interesting. i haven't put very much thought in it, sigh. okay.

yes; i can imagine ellen being a two-year-old car theif, definitely; i love spelling "theif" wrong because it amuses me very much; anyway, i remember how before i moved here, there was this series of medical things i had to do before i could register for school, and i remember being injected with all these vaccines and immunization shots and having my blood sucked out of me into two tubes; it was a traumatizing experience to watch blood flow out of my arm through this tubing into little plastic tubes while i just sat there; ouch. i like semi-colons too.
haha, ellie was stopped by the ymun people on her way out of the omni hotel .. apparently they thought she was a conference participant. what did you say to them? my freshman roommate at the conference was telling us how he "had his bitches lined up" for the dance and how he was going to "get it on" or something -- we asked him who he'd met and he told us "morrocco, iran, and iraq are waiting for me" .. apparently they weren't. there are so many things that are apparent. such as the fact that i have a lot of history homework that i should be doing at this moment .. i'm in denial. what history work. what does bruce springsteen look like.
hey, bruce springsteen. my dad's friend's daughter worked at this ice cream shop in rumson one summer and she served him and his kids. yeah, i thought that was cool. i mean, he's bruce springsteen. haha.. jaques prevert. *snicker* :o)
duude.. broken arrow was a cool movie. they were actually showing it on tv a few weeks ago.. i haven't seen it in so long. the only thing that bothered me was the fact that christian slater doesn't seem to be able to open his mouth when he speaks. like, he always talks through this grimace-thing. i also thought samantha mathis was the coolest park ranger ever. hahaha.. i skipped (optional) practice to come home and sleep today. i planned to sleep for about an hour but i woke up two hours later. darn. and i wanted to sleep more.. *sigh* i need to figure out some way to manage my time better. perhaps i should blog less. hmmm.. :P i think i'm going to shower now. and then maybe read some of johnny got his gun. johnny get your gun. annie get your gun. which one is it?! haha. i am in a weird mood.
i went to the geek meet with derek and serena today. agh i wish i had a TI-89 like Kungfucius and all the seniors so i could actually solve the problems. you should see broken arrow if you haven't seen it. its actually a pretty good movie, unlike the other movies that we've talked about in history...like lawrence of arabia...
bird seems evil one moment and the next he can seem so nice. its so weird. i am petrified, stupified, mortified. by him. i'm still having trouble finding my great original idea for english. i want to see a beautiful mind again.
hey now, i'm the SAME AGE as ellie. ellie, take comfort in knowing that you've accomplished a great deal more than me in 17 years. everyone probably noticed how much more mature ellie is compared to me. i'm really immature. i still laugh at silly jokes, the word "poop," and french authors named jacques prevert. hahaha. i think i was a very serious child, and therefore i am making up for that by being immature during my adolescent years. so i guess age doesn't really have meaning. anyway, i'm writing a "fun essay" right now for english. oh, and i get to personalize; what a treat. we are supposed to write about a place we feared as a child (we're reading 'to kill a mockingbird' now), and i'm writing about the doctor's office. my mom always tells me stories about how i ran away from the doctor, out of the examining room, out of the office, out of the building, and then...i realized the car was locked. hmmm i wonder that if it wasn't, i would attempt to start the car. or, if i had no keys, then i would use my 2 year old hands to spark those wire thingys like in the movies and drive away. hahaa.

ahh, natalie imbruglia! i have the same birthday as .. rosie o'donnell, matthew broderick, gary oldman, pierre renoir, modest mussorgsky, and j.s. bach. hm, what an interesting group. anyway, so ellen, you really have to explain this whole "instant internet boyfriend" thing -- it seems a little, what's the word .. sketchy. or maybe i'm using it wrong. i used a lot of words in the wrong way this weekend whenever i spoke onstage -- spontaneous and unrehearsed public speaking is a bit harder than i thought it was. i sounded like a fob sometimes. anyway, i've found that if you can create the illusion of eye contact without actually making eye contact, like with looking at the person but not really, it's easier to speak. good morning, delegates.
i'm here because i'm here because i'm here because i'm here blogging while i'm doing my goshdarn history editorial. mrs. bryer has suddenly become worse than bird and amitrani in assigning hw.
i think i saw bruce springsteen at my tennis club sunday morning. i glanced at this guy sitting in the corner a few times and he looked really familiar. later my mom said she saw him too, and she thought he was bruce springsteen. and she heard one of the club pros call they guy "Bruce". hmm. hmm my dad just received his patent for something i have absolutely no understanding of. i have the same birthday as h.g. wells. and either stephen king or stephen hawking. hawkings was the name of my former lab group. i think its stephen king, actually. all these authors. and its the feast day of saint matthew? indoor soccer is getting more intense every day. its crazy. i need some points.
happy birthday ellen. :) and damian looks interesting.. hee hee.
i have the same birthday as.. doh, i forget. darn! but i do remember that it wasn't someone terribly interesting. when i was in.. fourth grade or something, we found this book in the library that listed birthdays of famous people and there were only one or two people for my birthday. and i don't even remember who they were, so i don't think they were as cool as, say, oscar de la hoya or natalie imbruglia. or dan quayle! haha.. i've been having memory lapses recently. it's really quite frightening. :oP waaaahhh.. i can't study. i just can't. i keep falling asleep and i don't want to study anymore or write this darn editorial and aaaauuugh. i feel so tired. boooo.. :/
thanks y'all...=D i had/am having possibly one of the best beedays ever. so exciting that it's craziness. i did have a very excellent time at the dmv, and i saw this cba guy there who i swear looks exactly like Fez from "that 70's show". i was thoroughly disappointed when i heard him talk and he didn't sound like fez...oh well. at the dmv (i'm sure everyone knows this already, but..) there are those scrolling screen things that scroll news and miscellaneous information. it scrolled celebrity birthdays for the 4th, and i don't know if it was my excitement from getting my license or something, but i seriously screamed, "mom!!! LOOK!!!!!!!!!!! i have the same birthday as rosa parks, dan quayle (sp?), oscar de la hoya, and natalie imbruglia!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" yeah, people looked at me.
hey look, its damian, my instant internet boyfriend! i love him. hahaha..mm k.
archibald! haha, yes. that name is just popping up everywhere now, isn't it?
happy license day ellen=) i really do'nt like the cold. you know, it snowed really big cold, wet flakes for about five minutes today. and i got teh math league bus to drop me off at my house since we were gonna pass it anyway, and i had to walk home in the big cold wet snowflakes. one landed in my mouth. it was wet. and cold too. but hey, at least i saved myself half an hour by begging the teacher to let me get dropped off on the way back to school =) hehe. i'm SO tired. i think >this time< i really am lacking sleep. must sleep. we all must sleep! i think we should all have a really big sleepover, and do what has never been done in the past...actually SLEEP at the sleepover! ooh. semicolon's are cool. i know a kid named colin. and everyone called him colon. now they call him foster. but i'm not sure why. yep, i know you were all just dying for that information. i think i'll go occupy myself with some antiderivatives.
happy birthday ellen!!!!
i hope you had an excellent time at the dmv =)...and that you woke up feeling special and went through the day like you were floating on puffy marshmallows or clouds. it must be fun to drive around...i wouldn't know =). happy happy seventeenth birthday!! =) we love you!
i like semicolons. they're my favorite punctuation mark. what's your favorite punctuation mark?
i swear, derek, the weekend you were here it was the coldest it's been in new haven so far. besides that, it's almost exactly like nj, just a few degrees colder and you have to walk outside instead of driving or getting driven in a car.
hi -- i'm home. actually, i've been home since around six or seven yesterday, but i just didn't get a chance to blog. and i should be doing work now. anyway, i should sign up sometime soon to take driving lessons .. any specific driving school that people recommend? i'll be at the chinese school new year celebration too, playing the gong and these chinese cymbals. it should be amusing when i screw everything up. or maybe not. i seem to be typing a bit sluggishly today, the style of my writing. mmm. uh oh, all these birthdays are passing by and i haven't even finished christmas gifts. from last last year. i swear, the pillows are all sitting somewhere in my room and i haven't had a chance to look for them and find them to give to everyone who didn't get one, and my plans for present-making this past christmas were completely unrealized and well. sometime i'll get everyone everything i owe them. i should be more thoughtful .. sigh.
i did a lion dance once, in this chinese culture camp in texas. it was with those green ugly faces, though, not the real lion heads. i mean, not "real" lion heads .. you know what i mean. my stand partner is a bit daft -- i don't believe other people when they say he's really smart. i'll believe it when i see it. i wish i had cable. i was watching mtv this past weekend and i saw "making the video" with enrique iglesia's new song called "escape" or something and anna kournikova was in it and it was interesting. i think it was. er, new haven is really cold. and i can't understand why ellie enjoys living there. according to her, it's all about the people there, not the city. oh well. there was a guy's a cappella group that performed at the opening ceremonies, and they sang their own arrangement to barenaked ladies' "what a good boy" .. i thought that was interesting. richard, you should've been there. your mom says you should do model un too. anyway, so i think i learned a bit about public speaking and how to plan strategy to get people to agree with you and cooperate. i'll be better next year. but all these people were so stupid and weren't serious about it and it made me angry .. mm. i want to do security council. or maybe not, i don't know. i got up and spoke ten or so times and had fun criticizing people in formal speeches. well, as formal as i could make them. i couldn't think of the right word in this one part, and ended up calling aids a "pestilence" when i was looking for "epidemic" or "pandemic" .. sigh, it's really hard thinking of words onstage if you can't find the one you're looking for. i think i'm forgetting to say somethings. i'll come back and blog later. why does this swirve personality test piece tell me i should marry eric, neil, or derek?...that's not right...
dude we finished our history outline! i'm going to be an nfl analyst when i grow up. or maybe i was just lucky today. i also found this book called a book of english essays. must be a lucky day.
i still have this bruise on my arm from friday when ken pulled my chair out from under me when we were doing history. that was like only the 2nd time in my life i've fell for that trick. my brother's such a delinquent. my aunt bought this foby soft drink thing that has a marble as the cap. you have to punch the marble out with your history book in order to drink it. then it foams all over your hand. anyway, for some reason that delinquent michael wanted to get the marble that was inside the bottle that is designed to keep the marble from coming out and going down someone's throat. so he broke the glass bottle and cut his finger and throws the broken glass away by himself. and he's like, "i got the marble!" he--or it...jk-- never ceases to surprise me.
aah! ellen gets her license tomorrow! so exciting. my dad picked me up after choir today and *surprise* let me drive all the way the the dmv and practice parallel parking. i'd never been on the highway before today.. well, it was fun. i'm actually not as bad at parallel parking as i thought. yay!
woh, i have a lot of work to do. maybe i'll blog later.
yeah, everyone come this saturday for the chinese new year celebration thingie! =) i'm very excited, my mom's little 5 and 6 year old class that i help teach are putting on this little 'poetry play' and they're soooo adorable. i laughed until i cried yesterday at chinese school, just watching them do the dress rehearsal. they're soo cute. so mindie, me, richard, and all the lion dance people are in. unless you have a good excuse, let's make this thing fun by actually going!
wow, that's awesome ellen. and ... er ... happy birthday? (sheepish grin)
so last night i went to derek's "delegate dance" for ymun ... which was cute. ok so i didn't go any further than the hotel lobby, but whatever. it was fun, in an i'm-in-college-and-can't-be-bound-to-the-hotel-by-your-high-school-rules sort of way.
goshdarnit i can't even read a calendar right. there is no 4 day weekend next week. well, come on saturday anyway! wow. i found this book called the oxford book of short stories. should be rather useful for english.
you guys did the lion dance at barnes and noble? (with the starbizzucks in it..hehe, did anyone see jamie kennedy's experiment?!?! so funny, so funny.) that's hot. you are bringing culture to the holmdel/monmouth county area. mm..k. middletown is very WASP-y. i have a lot of friends who are in the daughters of the american revolution (!!!!). haha, funny. james bond rocks!! i remember a few years ago there was a james bond marathon on tv...my brother and i watched ALL OF THEM. i repeat, ALL OF THEM. it was great.
my friends from school threw my a surprise beeday party today! i was very surprised. i have the greatest friends. =D i'm so very thankful. among my presents was a book called "finding mr. right" and a virtual romance cd rom called "instant internet boyfriend." haha. wow. am i sending out desperate-for-men signals?? hahaha. they also made a visual timeline to my life, starting from kindergarten...elementary...fat/big glasses stage...halloweens (where i was a...clown, indian, and queen of hearts)...spandex/acid washed jean jacket phase...etc., etc. connie, they even marked the first "sighting" of devin at the track meet!! haha. oh the beauty of devin barry, hot high jumper extraordinaire. well anyway, i just took the "instant internet boyfriend" quiz, and my match is Damian, a 5'10 aspiring actor who likes theatre and poetry. supposedly he's going to send me emails now...hahaha, this is great. we messed up our lion dance at barnes and noble. it was like a drunken lion dance. or a crackheaded-lion dance. we basically had to improvise our way through it and i kept getting lost on the drum. and then i dropped one of my sticks. then everybody started crowding around the lion so that i couldn't see it, and it was rather amusing. tennis is so frustrating. i want to eat my pillow.
everybody come this saturday to the chinese new year thingy. its a 4 day weekend! i suspect lion dance will be much better b/c we won't have to weave through all those bookshelves and try to eat lettuce in 20 mph winds. the abc bond picture show is on! sean connery is slick. like a slick black cadillac. how's college, archibald? yea um eric and i told your stand partner the other day that you already graduated and went to yale. and he was going nutso. i think he believed us.
daily show! the "overcommercialization of hanukkah" was funny, back in december. i watched the snl tribute to chris farley on thursday. it was so so so funny, i miss chris farley - the snls with him, adam sandler, david spade, and mike meyers were the best. and that chris farley show skit w/ paul mcartney- "remember you were with the other four beatles...and there was beatlemania? -yes, i do. what about it? -....well, remember?" anyway...
i hate horror movies. i'm the most annoying person to watch horror movies with. it's just that i get so freaked out! they scare me to death, because of the actual potential for scary stuff in the movie...and i hate horror movie music. yuck. i watched halloween h2o yesterday and it's not the scariest movie ever but i was going through my whole usual yelling at the idiotic characters and jumping at every little "surprise" and ending up watching most of the movie partially hidden by my sweatshirt and a pillow. but josh hartnett is in it, and that's why we watched the blasted movie in the first place. hooray for josh hartnett! hm, i blog more on other people's blogs than my own blog. hahahahaha.. assmaster. i've never seen that one, but i did see margaret cho's pulp comics on comedy central. it was hilarious.. she was doing this fake commercial where she played a woman living in korea who thought she was too fat and then joined a diet program where you contract malaria and get thin. it was funny. :) i was also watching the daily show today and they did a story on this guy that shot a snowman and then accidentally shot himself in the leg. the guy was like.. "the little *bleep*er went in my leg!" and the interviewer was like, "is the little *bleep*er still in your leg?" and after he said yes, they cut to the interviewer talking to some lawyer guy and she was like, "do you know that the little *bleep*er is still in bob's leg?" yeah, i thought that was funny, too. i guess you had to be there. :)
guys make interesting comments. "woohoo" is one of the less degrading ones, i'm guessing. that reminds me of my fourth grade class. every time someone mentioned a boy and a girl in the same sentence, we'd all go "OOOOH!!!!" and giggle uncontrollably. those were the days. :o) i just reread all that.. and it looks like i am very incoherent today. sorry. =) (wow, that wasn't even coherent.)
i'm not stupid. just mentally challenged. challenged by this history outline, presidential evaluation, a book called J-dawg gotz his gun, a reaction paper on it, and this english research paper piece that i'm working on now, and this math quiz on some vesano sequences and series, and this ap chem test on stuff we did before midterms. i'm seeing spots. i think my contacts are a little dry. ooh look there's a pretty rainbow on the wall...nevermind. happy birthday, michelle
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, MICHELLE!!
yammers is sweet sixteen!! =) i'm so sorry it took me so long to remember, michelle - i was telling her how i was staring at the back of her head during history today, because i knew i had reminded myself to tell michelle something...and i just couldn't remember...and then of course it hit me like a 16-wheeler truck hits a pedestrian that i forgot to wish her a happy sweet sixteen day =). love you michelle!!!
Guys are just stupid... maybe... i hope i havent insulted anyone! if i have, guys are still stupid, but i never said that in ur presence, hence you dont know about it. I'd love to do a volleyball tournament for my gym midterm... this year i had to write a paper on yoga! let me tell u... that was hte worst waste of time. Anywho...i almost eat my pilow when i root for a sporting team... i tend to jump up and down... and scream A LOT...its really pathetic. Wordmaster is a test that we take every marking period. It is basically a test of analyzing different genres of literature and then answering questions. Its a national test, and people who earn recognition for a certain test are deemed 'Wordmasters'. I hope that clarifyed everything. We also get to have a party if we have someone who is a wordmaster in our class period. Brownies on Monday!
hey, i just talked to derek on the phone. while we're within the same area code. ... not like we talked on the phone that much when we were in the 732 area code, but whatever. actually it's kind of funny because i called and some guy (obviously) picked up and i was like, "can i please speak to derek? this is ellie." then he said, "oh, hold on a second." and while he was handing the phone to derek, he said, "here, derek, it's ellie ... woohoo!" or some similar guy comment. to which i started laughing.
then derek got on the phone and said, "don't ask." and i was thinking, why would i have to ask, guys are the same all over the country ...
i'm sorry if i came off as snobby and obnoxious when i was being overly protective about my ewan=P cuz i was rereading my blog and i would have hated me if i weren't myself. anyway, some of my friends are going to the weezer concert in feb also, cool. i took a calc test today...we get time to finish tomoddo, i worked on teh three problems i didn't know tonight, and i STILL can't do them! darn. uh, i have a lot of stuff to do. bye.
